THE ORIGINAL RED DEVILS

Squad | Ed Chamberlain joins Red Devils for two years

Salford Red Devils can confirm that Ed Chamberlain has signed a two-year deal with the Club following a successful loan spell this season.
The versatile back has featured three times for the Red Devils since joining on loan being named at fullback for recent outings against Hull Kingston Rovers and Castleford Tigers. Chamberlain’s kick assisted Jake Bibby’s try against the Tigers in his first start at the The Salford Stadium.
Ed Chamberlain said: “I’m enjoying my rugby here and I’m looking forward to continuing playing at Salford.
“I’ve played at fullback in the past few games, but I can also move into the centres and onto the wing so hopefully this allows me the opportunity to get plenty of game time.
“I’ve settled in well with the rest of the team and Ian Watson and his coaching staff have been great with me.
“I’m really excited to see where we can go as a team.”
Head Coach Ian Watson said: “Ed’s been outstanding since he came to the Club, he’s really impressed myself and the fellow coaching staff as well as the rest of the lads.
“He’s a versatile back who has filled in at fullback this season but can also play in the centres and on the wing, which makes him a rare commodity in the modern game.
“Ed has displayed how dangerous he can be going forward as well as his organisational skills in defence and we’re confident he’ll continue to develop in the coming seasons.”
Director of Rugby and Operations Ian Blease said: “We’re pleased to have secured Ed’s services for the next two years.
“Ed joined us midway through the season and has really impressed since coming into the side meaning it was a no-brainer to sign him on a permanent basis.
“We see Ed having a big future here at Salford Red Devils and we believe he’ll be a key player for us over the next few years.
“We’re working tirelessly behind the scenes and this has paid dividend with the acquisitions of Jackson [Hastings] and Ed however we are still looking to strengthen our squad for the middle 8s and next season.
“Hopefully, the fans will continue to back us, come out in their numbers and support the lads in our upcoming 8s campaign.”
