THE ORIGINAL RED DEVILS

MARCH PLAYER OF THE MONTH NOMINEES REVEALED

It’s time for you to vote for your March Player of the Month…

The Betfred Super League campaign is now well underway, and Salford Red Devils sit fifth in the table after six intense rounds of rugby league.

March kicked-off with a tough trip to table-toppers Warrington Wolves, where Paul Rowley’s side were looking to bounce back from defeat to Hull KR, a week prior.

Despite leading 6-20 at half-time – including a stunning solo try by Ryan Brierley – the hosts seized momentum in the second-half and turned the game around to win 36-20.

The Red Devils bounced back in style in their next outing; completely putting Hull FC to the sword at the MKM with some scintillating attacking play.

That 14-60 win was backed-up by another nervy, but nonetheless two points at home to struggling Wakefield Trinity. Marc Sneyd’s drop-goal in golden point secured the 14-13 victory.

The final game this month was a trip to face Matt Peet’s Wigan Warriors. Two late tries were the difference, with Bevan French proving the difference in a 20-16 win for the hosts.

Four players stood out above the rest in this month.

Tyler Dupree has been in flying form so far this season. The prop – at just 23 years of age – is showing maturity beyond his years and his performances the month hands him a well-deserved back-to-back Player of the Month nominations to kick-off 2023.

The next nominee was our golden point hero, Marc Sneyd. Our number seven kicked his 1,000th career goal against his old club, Hull FC and has been pivotal in our three, early-season victories.

As has Ryan Brierley – our next nominee. Scoring tries in two of the matches and assisting in the two others, he has consistently proven himself as one of the best support players in Super League.

The final nominee is our captain, Kallum Watkins. Continuing his incredible run in the second-row, Watkins has played long and tiring minutes this month, but he continues to produce the mixture of hard-work and quality that makes him the world class player he is.
