Ian Watson – "We've just got to worry about ourselves"

The Red Devils returned to winning ways last weekend with an emphatic 52-14 victory over Huddersfield which means they do still have an outside chance of making the top four.
Head Coach Ian Watson feels the side is well prepared for tonight’s trip to Headingley but admits that the Super 8s is a massive learning curve for everyone at the club.
Watson said: “We will be better for this experience going forward as a team and as a club.
“Obviously, your goalposts change. When we got 4th place in the league your goalposts change everyone would have been happy at the beginning of the season to finish there.
“But, when you get into the top four all of a sudden you want more and more and sometimes you can run before you can walk.
“I’ve learned massive amounts over these last few weeks in what we’ve faced and that’ll be great for us as a club as we go forward and continue to grow but we need to finish our season in the right way.”
The Red Devils can still finish inside the top four however they do need results to go their way but Watson is making sure the lads are focused on themselves rather than results elsewhere.
Watson said: “We’ve just got to worry about ourselves and not really worry about the table – that’ll take care of itself at the end of the day.
“We’ve been better over this past week or so and we’ve just focused on ourselves. We’ve not looked at the table or had a look at where we’re sitting, where we could be or where we could go.
“We’ve just had a little focus on ourselves and things we do rather than worrying about chasing the Grand Final and things like that.
“So, we’ll just go about our own business, focus on ourselves and if it does put us in with a shot we’ll take that step when it comes.”
