Ahead of tomorrow’s Betfred Super League clash with Hull FC we take a look at all the facts behind the fixture.
Head-to-Head
Salford and Hull FC have met on 41 occasions since the inception of the Betfred Super League with the Red Devils coming out on top on nine occasions while FC have won the 32 meetings. There is yet to be a Betfred Super League draw between the sides.
The Red Devils have only won one of their last six meetings with the Airlie Birds coming at the KC Stadium on April 7th 2017 when Ian Watson’s men hammered the hosts 54-18. Salford and FC have shared the spoils at the The Salford Stadium since The Red Devils’ move each winning three matches apiece.
The last time Salford overcame Hull FC at the The Salford Stadium was back in February 2015 when the Red Devils earned a 32-28 victory – a match you can read about in this week’s ‘The Red Devils’ matchday programme.
Try-Scoring
Full-back Niall Evalds’ try-scoring exploits have been well documented so far this season and he’s got a fine record of going over the whitewash against Hull FC in recent seasons.
The England Knights representative has scored in each of his last four appearances against FC. Evalds weaved his way around Jamie Shaul in the Super 8’s meeting last season between the sides. Evalds didn’t feature in last year’s dominant 18-54 victory at the KC Stadium.
Half-back Robert Lui has also had some joy against the men from Humberside in recent years scoring a try in three of his last four outings against Hull FC. The Australian scored in both trips to the KC Stadium last season and notched a try in a 20-28 defeat at the The Salford Stadium.
For the visitors, Carlos Tuimavave has been a frequent try-scorer against Salford scoring four tries in two seasons including a brace last time out. Albert Kelly and Jamie Shaul have both scored three tries against Salford in recent seasons however Kelly hasn’t been included in FC’s matchday squad.
High scoring affairs
It would be fair to say that Salford and Hull meetings haven’t been short of points in recent seasons with each of the last ten games involving 38 points or more. These ten games have also seen both sides score double figures in each game.
In fact, in six games between 2014 and 2016 both sides racked up 20 or more points.
