Salford Red Devils suffered a disappointing defeat to the hands of Hull KR at the The Salford Stadium.
Ian Watson made two changes to his side, with Josh Jones and Greg Johnson coming into the team.
Hull KR got off to the perfect start with Josh Mantellatto going over in the corner and converting his own try to put the visitors to an early 0-6 lead.
Shortly after, KR double their advantage with James Greenwood latching on the end of a grubber kick to score. The conversion and a further penalty saw the Yorkshire club take an early 0-14 lead.
Salford came back into the game with a try of their own, an acrobatic finish from Mason Caton-Brown put the Red Devils on the board.
KR quickly restored the deficit when Ken Sio scored for Rovers, followed by another 2 point penalty.
Gareth O’Brien slotted a penalty of his own on the stroke of half time to pull 2 points back for Salford, who went in at the break 6-22 down.
Salford started the second half brightly with a prolonged spell of pressure, which eventually paid off when O’Brien scored a try and converted it.
From the following kick off however, Rovers were awarded a penalty, and added two points to their score, the stretch them to a 24-12 lead.
Salford came back strong again but spurned a number of chances on the Hull KR line, before Albert Kelly slotted drop goal to push Rovers to a three score lead.
With Salford now facing a monumental task to get anything out of the game, Hull KR used good gave management tactics to take the pace out of the game and frustrate Salford.
Hull found time to score one more try, Thomas Minns jumping on the end of a grubber kick to complete a miserable night for the Salford Red Devils with the game finishing 12-29.
The defeat means Salford now go Headingly to face Leeds Rhinos, needing a win to get their Super 8 Qualifier campaign back on track.
