Salford Red Devils club legend and original superstar Keith Fielding made a special visit to the Red Devils Foundation heritage museum today to hand over some incredible items from his Salford and international playing career.
Included in the museum donation was Keith’s original Great Britain playing jersey, Salford boot bag, and the superstars Champion of champion’s trophy.
Fielding recently attended the friendly victory over Hull FC and was taken aback by the hospitality and welcoming atmosphere, he said;
“The The Salford Stadium is a wonderful venue, everything from the quality of the pitch to the hospitality, it’s up there as one of the best sporting venues in the country.”
“It was a great game, despite being a friendly you could see the potential in the team, the style of attacking rugby they play under Ian Watson is not too dissimilar to the way we played in the 70’s. Watching players like Junior Sa’u gives me such excitement, on the field he’s powerful, talented, strong and explosive whilst off it he is the perfect clubman, everything you want in a representative of this fine club. “
With the Wigan Warriors fixture only days away Fielding had this message for both the players and the supporters;
“To the men in red, train hard, believe in each other, play to the best of your ability and you will achieve anything you set your mind to.
To the fans, you are without doubt the most passionate supporters in the sport, this club is a family club, to be part of it is something very special. Salford is my only club, and always will be. I would urge you to be here for the Wigan game, bring your friends and family and give everything you have for the team, from experience being out on the field I can tell you that a supportive atmosphere will give those lads on the field that extra lift and makes all the difference.”
