ROWLEY SAYS WE MUST ‘ENJOY THE MOMENTS’

Head Coach, Paul Rowley has insisted the importance of enjoying the moments like youngster, Sam Hill’s first senior try.

Collecting his own chip and chase in the 79th minute, it was the Salford Roosters product who kickstarted the set to get us within range.

Perhaps fitting that he was the spare man to dot down and send the Salford faithful home with something to celebrate on another tough afternoon.

St Helens were comfortable winners in Round 14, with Kyle Feldt scoring four on his return from injury, but the story of the say was definitely the young winger.

Speaking in his post-match press conference, Rowley has stressed that in these tough moments, celebrating milestones like Hill’s try is important for everyone.

“They’ve got an accelerated opportunity that they probably wouldn’t have had, and we see a lot of good young kids at other club’s who don’t get that opportunity, but things have forced our hand – they’ve been given that exposure and enjoyed themselves,” he began.

“We’re clearly lacking some quality, experienced players, but our young players have been a shining light really.

“Not just their ability, but their character; and I guess they bring that character and fearlessness attitude that you saw in Sam Hill’s chip kick right before his try. That put a smile on everybody’s face didn’t it.

“As I’ve said for weeks and weeks, we’re in a situation where we’ll enjoy moments like that and we’ve got to enjoy moments like that – and that was a good one.”
