THE ORIGINAL RED DEVILS

ROWLEY PROUD OF THE ‘VERY FABRIC’ OF SALFORD RED DEVILS

Head Coach, Paul Rowley described his pride in representing Salford Red Devils and explained just what the Club has offered in the last few years.

Just a short while after guiding his side to a third, but most memorable victory over Warrington Wolves, Rowley spoke to the press and wasted no time reminding everyone what this Club means to so many people.

On where Friday night’s victory ranks, he said: “It ranks… It’s in its own category, I think, because it’s very different. It meant more than the two points; they don’t mean anything to us at this stage.

“I just think at Leigh last week, the connection a group of new players had with the supporters, the connection I felt, and the love for the support just went to a different level today – so it’s just in its own category.

“It was actually a day to show what Salford offers as a club. This Club has got a lot of soul, a lot of spirit, a lot of pride, and it offers a lot.

“I was thinking on the way here; in the last few years we’ve had two Men of Steel, a Grand Final, a Challenge Cup, playoff football every year, great away support.

“It’s a story of the underdog, always fighting, never giving up, and today reflected that in many respects. In a sport that prides itself on giving people a chance, you don’t need a load of money to play this sport, you just get a ball and a pair of old boots, and you can play.

“We’ve got everything apart from a load of money in our pockets. It runs a bit deeper sometimes, doesn’t it, and I’m very proud of the very fabric, the very tapestry of Salford Red Devils. Today was a good day.”
