Head Coach, Paul Rowley is happy to have ‘consistent’ Olly Russell in the group after completing a two-week loan switch from Wakefield Trinity.
The strict sustainability cap still imposed on the Club has had a huge impact on the consistency of selection, with a string of loan players coming and going across 2025.
Russell’s switch from West Yorkshire is the latest in that long list, as the 26-year-old halfback slots into the position left vacant by Danny Richardson, who has headed back to parent club, Hull KR.
With over 400 career points to his name, the former Huddersfield Giants regular certainly brings a lot a quality to the team and will complement Jayden Nikorima with his clinical kicking game.
Speaking to the press ahead of Sunday’s game, Rowley said: “He’s had an injury this year, but he’s been in full training now for a few weeks. Wakefield are on fire at the minute, so he’s joined us for some game time, and obviously with Danny Richardson going back, it filled that gap for us as well.
“Olly’s been a consistent performer, mainly at Huddersfield in his career – he was there for eight years – so this year has probably been a real challenging, exciting year for him – going to different clubs and trying new things.
“He’s a good lad. I know his family well, he has a good family, and we’re really pleased to have him onboard.”
