Head Coach, Paul Rowley says he is ‘very grateful’ of the lads for their effort, despite numerous off-field distractions.
The Reds were beaten by Castleford Tigers 22-14 in Round 4 of the Betfred Super League, despite coming from behind twice to level the scores.
Ryan Brierley and Kallum Watkins – in between some top quality kicking from Marc Sneyd – kept Salford right in the contest, but a late Judah Rimbu try took the game away from Rowley’s men.
However, speaking in his post-match press conference, our Head Coach said he had a lot of admiration for his players after such a turbulent week.
“We asked them to battle hard and make sure they work hard. Which you would say they were givens in this sport, but with some distractions and having not practised – it probably wasn’t a given.
“I was very proud, very grateful that the players came together and whilst it wasn’t polished, we knew it wasn’t going to be polished, the game wasn’t polished – far from it.
“I thought they tried to cover each others backs. We were always going to make mistakes defensively and offensively as well, but try and find a way through hard work, and I thought they did that.”
