The Salford Red Devils ran our comfortable 10-46 winners at the Select Security Stadium against Widnes Vikings.
The Red Devils welcomed Lama Tasi back into the side following suspension, replacing Lee Mossop.
Former Australia international and Dally M Medal winner Todd Carney made his Salford debut from the bench, having been an unused substitute against Castleford the Week before.
Salford nearly got the game of to the perfect start, with Justin Carney going over the in the corner, only for the referee to pull it back for a forward pass.
It was long before Salford did open the scoring through Lama Tasi, who crashed over following some Harlem Globetrotter style rugby from the Red Devils.
Greg Johnson was quick to extend the advantage with a fantastic finish in the corner as Salford began to assert dominance on the game.
It wasn’t long before Salford were over again, Ben Murdoch-Masila scoring his 4th try in three games to stretch the visitors to 0-14 lead.
With Salford firmly on top, George Griffin extended the lead further, finishing off in the corner as the Red Devils elected to run the ball on 5th tackle.
The try’s kept flowing for the Red Devils and Kris Welham was next to add his name to the list, with a superb finish in the corner to push Salford out to 0-26 lead.
Salford found time for one more score before the break, with Justin Carney going over in the corner to make the score 0-30 at half time.
Widnes made a much brighter start to the second half and managed to get themselves on the score board just two minute in with Corey Thomson finding space to score.
With ten minutes played in the second half, Ian Watson introduced Todd Carney for his Salford debut, and he was quickly in the thick of the action, firing a beautiful pass to Junior Sa’u, who broke the Widnes line and passed to Michael Dobson who scored under the posts.
The result now beyond doubt, Salford continued to put Widnes under pressure, and Rob Lui was the next to score, going over after an outrageous dummy, which fooled several Widnes defenders.
Salford managed to get across the line again before full time, with Todd Carney carving a hole in the Widnes defensive line, and Gareth O’Brien finishing off to score.
Widnes hit back with a late consolation courtesy of a lucky bounce, but the win never looked in doubt for Salford, as the game finished 10-46 to the visitors.
