THE ORIGINAL RED DEVILS

Red Devils beaten by Broncos

The Red Devils fell short against a determined London team, in a tight game at the The Salford Stadium

Salford Red Devils came into the game looking to build on the previous performance against Featherstone and build some momentum towards the end of the season.

Ian Watson made one change to the side that score 70 points last week, with Greg Johnson replacing Daniel Vidot on the wing.

London took the lead against the run of play, with Barthau pouncing on a sloppy pass to intercept, and racing length of the field to give London a 0-4 lead.

Salford slowly built themselves back into the game, and after a spell of possession on London line, and a couple of near-misses, George Griffin barged over to the score under the sticks.

London managed to get the lead back before half time, with Scott Leatherbarrow benefiting from clever passing to score and put the score at 6-10 at half time.

In the second half, London made another positive start. Jamie Soward made a break, played a clever ball and then backed up the runner to score in the corner and extend the visitors lead. Barthau then added a drop goal to stretch the lead to 19-6.

Salford came back at the Broncos, and Josh Griffin scored two tries in quick succession to bring Salford back to within 3 points. With the clock ticking down, the Red Devils almost pull off a comeback, but London held firm for a famous victory.

The results leaves the Red Devils needing a win against Batley next week to secure their place in the Million Pound Game.
