Red Devils appoint Poching new assistant coach

As announced at last night’s Fans Forum, Willie Poching has joined the Salford Red Devils as Assistant Coach for the 2017 season. Following a high successful playing career in both Australia and England, the former second rower turned his hand to coaching, and has worked with Leeds Rhinos, Warrington Wolves, and Hull KR, and is now joining Ian Watson’s team ahead of the new Super League season.
Watson is delighted to have Poching on board, and is looking forward to his contribution, he said;
“I first met Willie at Warrington, when Tony Smith took me under his tutorage. Willie was the main lead with on-field coaching and his character and mannerisms with the playing group struck me as someone who is very calm and in control with great knowledge and understanding of the game. With myself and Glees (Martin Gleeson) both being young coaches, I felt it would be a great fit to  have a established and highly respected coach with a wealth of experience, who will improve us as a coaching team.”
I have been in discussions with Willie since the first week I joined the club  and I am extremely pleased to have secured such an experienced RL coach as Willie to become part of our coaching team along with Head Coach Ian Watson and Assistant Coach Martin Gleeson. Willie has already slotted in very well and will indeed add some more vital ingredients to this club as we push on to make a huge impact on Super League for the forthcoming season.
Poching has joined up with the team this week, as they continue to prepare for the 2017 Season, which starts against Wigan Warriors on February 11th.
Season Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased by calling 0161 786 1574, visiting the The Salford Stadium, or going to eticketing.co.uk
