Greg Johnson and Craig Kopczak gave their thoughts to Red Devils TV after the 12-6 derby day win over Leigh Centurions on Good Friday.
The Red Devils made it 5 wins a row in tough conditions at the AJ Bell, and Winger Greg Johnson was pleased with the way the team held their nerve for the victory, he said;
“It was one of those where we don’t play our best but we but we still get the win, so it’s a good sign from the boys that we toughed it out. It was a scrappy game, a tough game, and Leigh brought it to us, but we still got the win so we’re pleased with ourselves.”
With the game on a knife edge in the second half, the Red Devils seemed to raise their intensity, and Prop Forward Craig Kopczak was quick to commend the efforts of his team mates, saying;
“I thought the boys were outstanding, it’s a derby in weather with a little bit of adversity, a lot of errors but we’ve grafted out there and come through with the win.”
The team are on a short turnaround for Monday’s evenings clash with Catalans Dragons, and Kopczak is expecting another bruising encounter against the French side;
“We’re riding on the crest of a wave, there’s going to be a lot of hard times to come ahead, but we’ve just got to take each game as it comes and it’s going to be another tough game on Monday, but we’ll enjoy this game now.
