PREVIEW: HUDDERSFIELD GIANTS V SALFORD RED DEVILS | SUNDAY 6TH MARCH

Salford Red Devils will look to put last weekend’s disappointment behind them and continue their promising start to the Betfred Super League season with a trip to face Huddersfield Giants at the John Smith Stadium tomorrow afternoon.

After two wins from their first two games against Castleford Tigers and Toulouse Olympique, Paul Rowley’s side suffered a 48-16 defeat to Hull FC at the MKM Stadium last Saturday.

With the Red Devils boss insisting that his players learn their lessons from that particular game, they have the opportunity to do just that against a tough Huddersfield Giants side on Sunday.

Speaking to the press ahead of the crunch Betfred Super League clash, Rowley was insistent that his team are 100% behind the way they prepare for games and one bad result has definitely not swayed that.

Rowley said: “You’ll learn from every result, good or bad. What it does is draws your attention to revaluate and it tests your resolve in terms of your philosophy and you either stick with it or give up and we’re 100% behind what we do here, and we will just try to improve the detail surrounding it and probably just be better at what we do.

“So, absolutely I would never want to learn the harsh lessons, but it’s important that you do learn and progress and as I’ve said we’ll consistently work hard week in, week out.”

This Sunday’s opposition – guided by former Salford head coach Ian Watson – are tipped for a promising campaign, with a very talented squad. The Giants kicked off their season with two wins, but suffered defeat against Wigan Warriors last week.

Rowley has also been analysing the opposition and believes that they are a ‘dead cert’ for a top-three place in the Betfred Super League come the end of the season.

The Red Devils boss said: “The stats show that they are in the top two for a lot of good stats like least missed tackles, most metres out of yardage, highest completions.

“So, we’re facing a really, really good team this week – most people talk about top six and playoffs, but I think Huddersfield are a dead cert top three side on paper with the resources they have got.”

Salford always know travelling to face opposition the calibre of Huddersfield will be a tricky task, but this side have shown so far this season that they are capable of competing with the very best.
