ORMONDROYD SAYS CASTLEFORD WIN ‘FELT AMAZING’

Jack Ormondroyd told us it felt ‘amazing’ to secure just a second victory of the Betfred Super League season after a pulsating clash with Castleford.

A run of 13 consecutive defeats was ended by a superb team performance at the Salford Community Stadium, with five brilliant tries enough to tame the Tigers.

Prop forward, Jack Ormondroyd, as he has all season, led from the front and made 122 and 33 tackles across the contest, backing up the mammoth 197 metres and 21 made by Sky’s Player of the Match, Chris Hill.

Speaking after the game, Ormondroyd is glad the improvement he’s seen in the last few weeks has finally produced a result.

“It’s been tough for the last few months, obviously,” he told our YouTube channel, “I think for the last few weeks – apart from the Saints game – we’ve shown a bit of improvement, but it feels amazing to get that win today.

“There was a bit of adversity in that game too, we finished with one sub, so it just makes that win all the better as well.”

That adversity he mentioned came in the form off three enforced changes; Jayden Nikorima, Esan Marsters and Loghan Lewis, with the latter lasting just a minute before leaving the field through concussion.

“I think it just shows the character all the boys have got. Like I said, it’s been a tough few months, but for the lads who stuck around and worked hard for each other, it showed on the pitch today.

“A really tough game, in the second-half with just one sub, I think it shows the character amongst the boys we’ve got.”
