THE ORIGINAL RED DEVILS

OLIVER RUSSELL JOINS THE REDS ON LOAN

We are delighted to confirm Oliver Russell has joined the Club on a two-week loan from Wakefield Trinity.

The 26-year-old halfback has already met with his new teammates for training ahead of Sunday’s Betfred Super League Round 18 clash with the Castleford Tigers.

He will slot straight into the squad following the expiry of Danny Richardson’s loan move from Hull KR.

Born in Oldham, Russell is a product of the Huddersfield Giants Academy and made his Super League debut in 2018 versus Widnes Vikings.

During his time at the Giants, Russell made 94 appearances, scored five tries and became a prolific goal kicker, knocking over two points on 191 occasions.

After his seven-year stay at the John Smith’s Stadium, Russell took up an opportunity in late 2024 to move further East and joined Wakefield Trinity on a four-year deal.

He will now pull on the Red Devils jersey for the next fortnight and will compete in games against Castleford this Sunday, and at AMT Headingley for a clash with the Leeds Rhinos.

Everyone at the Club extends a warm welcome to Olly and his family and look forward to seeing him pull on the red shirt very soon.
