You have voted Nathan Connell as May’s Player of the Month, capping a real breakthrough month for the youngster.
Amidst a tough season for the Reds, Connell’s story is one any aspiring player can look to for inspiration. Joining the Foundation’s Rising Stars programme at just 14 years of age, the fullback has progressed through the ranks and earned his first professional contract for the 2025 season.
He started every game bar one across May, often on the wing, but earned major plaudits for his safe performance at fullback against the reigning champions, Wigan Warriors.
It was that game where Connell supported a lightning break by Joe Shorrocks to slide over in front of the South Stand and score his first senior try.
May’s other two nominees, Esan Marsters and Jack Ormondroyd must also be commended for their brave performances.
On picking up his first POTM award, Connell said: “Thank you to all the fans that have voted for me this month, your support is really appreciated.
“Keep turning up and supporting the boys like you have, it gives us that extra push each week to keep going!”
Everyone at the Club would like to congratulate Nathan on his well-deserved accolade!
