MELLOR CREDITS ‘UNBELIEVABLE’ ROWLEY AFTER WARRINGTON WIN

An emotionally charged Joe Mellor spoke to us in the wake of an outstanding 12-25 victory over Warrington Wolves.

The Reds upset the odds to take the two points in a display full of heart and commitment, with players like Mellor – our captain – right at the centre of it.

Two tries either side of half-time were enough for Paul Rowley’s men, with Justin Sangaré picking up Player of the Match for his two-try display.

But Mellor was at his very best once again, and he said the positivity in the weeks’ training gave him a feeling that a result may have been on the cards.

He said: “I think for some reason we felt good in the week. The loan lads that we’ve had in have been unbelievable, they’re just lads who want to play rugby.

“I remember being that age where you don’t want to be sat on the sidelines anymore, you want to be out playing, so they’ve added so much to the way we’ve worked the last couple of weeks.

“The way Rowls can get us up for a game it’s just unbelievable – massive praise for him.”
