MATTY FOSTER LEAVES SALFORD TO JOIN OLDHAM

We can confirm Matty Foster has signed for Oldham RLFC.

The back-rower made the switch from St Helens ahead of the 2024 campaign and extended his stay into 2025 after some promising initial displays, despite an injury-hit campaign.

Foster has featured 16 times for the Reds this season, scoring twice; both coming in away trips to Catalans Dragons and Castleford Tigers.

His youthful exuberance has been a valuable asset for the Reds in such a disrupted season, but he will now link up with the Roughyeds in the Championship.

On departing the Club, Foster said: “I’d just like to take this opportunity to thank everyone at Salford for the last two years. This club gave me a lifeline after coming off the back of some major injuries.

“The lads, coaches and staff have played a huge part in my development as a young player, and I have really enjoyed working with them over my time at the Club.

“A big shoutout to the fans who have given me and all the boys their backing in such a tough situation, rain or shine you always sung the loudest and got behind the lads, I really hope it sorts itself out soon, there are great people at Salford who deserve better and I hope the Club can go back to competing on the field.”

We’d like to thank Foz for all his efforts in a red shirt and wish him the best in his future career.
