Ian Watson shares his thoughts on Leeds swap deal

Following the swap deal with Leeds Rhinos, that sees Tui Lolohea join Salford Red Devils and Rob Lui move down the Super League table to Leeds, head coach Ian Watson shares his thoughts.
“Rob Lui has been here for a long time and I’ve seen him grow as a player and as a person as he has built up a family and a strong career.
“I’d like to thank Rob for his time and for all of the passion and hard work that he has put into playing for us here over the past four seasons. He has been an absolute credit to himself and the club during this time.”

During his time as a Red Devil, Lui has scored 68 tries in 87 league games and has played an integral part in bringing Salford up the Super League table to battle for the play-offs this season.
He will move to Leeds with immediate effect, where he will spend the rest of the season on loan before beginning a two-year deal with the Rhinos.
“I do feel saddened by him leaving us here at the club, but he will do well over at Leeds and he’s doing what’s best for his family. I wish him and his family all the best and happiness in the future.”
In the opposite direction, Lolohea has signed for Salford on a two-year deal which will see him don the Red Devils shirt until 2021.

Salford’s gain in the 24-year-old Tongan international will see him debut for the Red Devils in our next away fixture against Wigan Warriors.
“I think Tui will be a great asset to us. As a younger player, he’s got the talent there and you can see that through everything he’s done internationally for Tonga and in the NRL.
“I look forward to watching him play for us and seeing where we can go with him in the future.”
