Greg Burke will stay at Salford Red Devils, after signing a two-year contract extension.
In his first two full seasons at the The Salford Stadium, Burke appeared in the Betfred Super League Grand Final and the Coral Challenge Cup Final. That is an impressive record with the Red Devils, which he will now look to carry into next season and beyond.
Burke said: “To do what we’ve done in two years has been unreal.
“We’ve gone from the middle-eights to reaching the Grand Final and the Challenge Cup Final and now we’ve got to keep competing.
He added: “I’ve had some great memories here. I remember that semi-final win at Wigan felt like a home game, especially when the fans cheered at Mossop going over.
“That’s something that will stay with me forever, so we’re really excited to have them back with us next year.”
The news of this extension follows yesterday’s announcement that Richard Marshall has been appointed as the new Salford Red Devils head coach, on a two-year contract.
Marshall said: “Greg’s a tough, resilient player, who’s proved himself to be an asset with ball in hand.
“From the reports I’ve had, he’s also the kind of character that every club needs, so I’m looking forward to working with him.”
Supporters can get behind both of them, by purchasing 2021 season tickets early. Adult prices have been reduced across all areas, making it even more affordable to watch Marshall’s side in action. Further details can be found HERE.
Elsewhere in the pack, it was also confirmed recently that Sebastine Ikahihifo will join up with the squad once again in 2021.
Director of rugby and operations Ian Blease said: “Greg came here with a point to prove and has become an important part of our group.
“This season, I think he’s really shown how much he contributes when the team is under pressure, particularly in those tight Challenge Cup ties.
“He’s one of the personalities that has helped us build the constructive environment we have here, so we’re really pleased that both he and the Club will now continue to grow together, over the next couple of years.”
