Ellie Costello says the team have used cup final heartbreak as motivation ahead of Sunday’s meeting with Swinton Lionesses.
Just over a month ago, despite Lauren Ellison’s 75th minute try, it was Swinton who picked up the Challenge Shield trophy following a 4-12 victory.
Revenge will certainly be on the minds of Mike Grady and his squad, who admittedly weren’t at their best on the day and know they can perform better.
“We’ve spoke a lot about the final because we know we weren’t at our best that day,” halfback, Ellie Costello told us.
“So we’ve been working on the one-percenters in training, we know what we need to fix up and hopefully that will come into play on Sunday.”
Costello is a new addition from Wigan Warriors for 2025; slowly bedding into the squad and forming a partnership with Louise Fellingham
On Sunday’s return meeting with the Lionesses, she added: “I’m expecting a lot of good shape because they’ve got some really good coaches in there now.
“They’ve got some great middles as well, but we’ve been working on a lot of defence with Armani (Sharrock), so hopefully we’ll be able to shut that down early doors.”
