MATCH REPORT | SALFORD RED DEVILS 18-32 HULL KINGSTON ROVERS | SATURDAY 11 MAY

A second-half comeback from Hull Kingston Rovers denied Salford Red Devils progression in the Coral Challenge Cup.
Kris Welham’s try had put Salford in a strong position before the break, but a burst of three tries in the space of 15 minutes from Hull KR saw them clinch the result.
The visitors opened the scoring in the seventh minute, when Kane Linnet pounced on a grubber-kick.
Salford soon hit-back, moving the ball wide to the right for Krisnan Inu to force his way over from close-range.
The Red Devils then took the lead with 22 minutes gone. They moved the ball to the right channel once again, putting Niall Evalds one-on-one with Ryan Shaw. The Salford fullback then bounced off his man and spun inside to score.

With the momentum on their side, two former Rovers linked up on the left flank for Salford. Ken Sio made a dash and fed the ball to Kris Welham, who coasted inside to score.
Half time: Salford Red Devils 14-6 Hull KR
Salford extended their lead soon after the break, when Inu added another two points from a penalty.
Hull KR responded immediately, with Josh Drinkwater diving over down the middle.
Inu restored the half-time margin from the tee, but then Junior Vaivai pounced on a Craig Hall kick and Ryan Shaw added the conversion to level the scores.
Danny Addy then drove over low to take the lead for the Robins and a penalty with seven minutes remaining put them two scores ahead.
Weller Hauraki went over in the final minute to seal the result and ensure it was the visitors who progressed to the next round of the Coral Challenge Cup.
Salford’s attention will now return to their Betfred Super League campaign, with Ian Watson’s side sitting sixth in the table and travelling to face St Helens on Friday.
