Salford Red Devils Head Coach Ian Watson admits his side were poor for the first thirty minutes but saw a marked improvement after half-time against Castleford Tigers.
Watson said: “The first thirty minutes was probably as bad as we’ve been and we’ve got to hold each other accountable for that.
“I thought the last fifty minutes of it we were miles better.
“But the amount of defending we’d done in the first thirty minutes we shouldn’t have been in the game at half-time.
“That’s a positive for us defensively because they weren’t really troubling us too much with all the quality plays that they have.
“I thought we defended them reasonably well.
“The two tries they scored were on the back of little mistakes and they’ve only really worked to open us up on one occasion.
“In the second half we came out and held the ball, put some pressure on them and ended up winning the second half 8-2 and they couldn’t break us down.
“We started to open them up in the second half on their left edge with a few plays but we just needed a little more quality to finish them.
“We’ve got to take the positives out of the last forty minutes into the Hull FC game.”
