Salford Red Devils head coach Ian Watson was left devastated, following his side’s defeat to Hull Kingston Rovers at the The Salford Stadium.
The Red Devils had led at half-time, but a second-half comeback from the visitors brought Salford’s 2019 Coral Challenge Cup campaign to an end.
Watson said: “We wanted to have a good run in the cup and we’re devastated.
“We put up a disappointing performance and we need to be better than that.”
He added: “We’ve had some good results and we’ve played really well when we’ve stuck with our processes.
“Today, we came well away from that.”
Jake Bibby stepped in at second-row to face the Robins, after the 22-year-old featured on the wing in Salford’s victory over Leeds Rhinos the week prior.
“I thought Jake did really well today, to be fair,” said Watson.
“He’s a great kid. He’ll put his hand up to play anywhere and he’s willing to learn all the time.”
Salford’s attention will now return to their Betfred Super League campaign, with Ian Watson’s side sitting sixth in the table and travelling to face St Helens on Friday.
