Salford Red Devils head of performance analysis Chris Nelson has pledged his immediate future to the Club.
Nelson joined the Club in 2016 as first team performance analyst, a role he occupied for three years before a brief stint in football.
Returning to the The Salford Stadium in late 2019, Nelson has been head of performance analysis ever since and has now tied himself down at Salford for the near future.
Speaking on his contract extension, Nelson said: “I am super happy to be here and that’s the main reason I’ve signed once again.
“This year is going to be a very different challenge for me but I’m just hoping to carry on doing my job to the best of my ability and helping the team in anyway I can.”
The recent addition of Gareth Whittaker and Jake Batsford as head and assistant of strength & conditioning has pleased Nelson.
“It’s always good to have a new set of eyes and a different point of view. The best way to improve is take the best lot of ideas and use them to create our own system.
“Considering we have only been working together for about 4 weeks now, it’s incredible how well we are getting on and working together.
“Having the best people in their positions helping the team achieve is key. Knowing everyone has their role is so important because we all have different things that we can bring to the table.”

Head coach Richard Marshall said: “Securing Chris’ immediate future is a great piece of business for the Club.
Chris’ attention to detail and overall work ethic has shone through in the short time I’ve been here.
“He has a great understanding of the needs of the S&C and coaching team and I look forward to working with him this year.”
Director of rugby & operations Ian blease added: “Chris has been, and will continue to be, an important piece of our boot room team. He has progressed well for us since returning from a stint in football.
“It has been a pleasure to secure him for the near future for the Club. These dedicated and ambitious staff members we have secured recently, drive our team ethos and culture and will assist the Club to keep driving for the success it now demands.”
